The Europa Cup water polo tournament from 16 to 18 February at the municipal Olympic pool

International water polo returns to Palermo, after last year’s match Italy vs. Russia, which saw the Italian national team win for 12 to 9.  The Italian national team is TeLiMar Palermo

The Europa Cup water polo tournament will take place from 16 to 18 February at the municipal Olympic pool.

The event was presented this morning in the presence of the mayor Leoluca Orlando at Palazzo delle Aquile, the headquarters of the municipality.

 The Europa cup was launched by the LEN Ligue Europeenne de Natation and is reserved for the 14 best European teams, which are accessed through the ranking of the 2016 Belgrade European Championships.

The tournament includes two phases, the eliminatory round and the “Final eight” scheduled from 6 to 8 April in Croatia.

The eliminatory round will be played in 3 groups.

Group A in Budapest (Hungary) between Hungary, Spain, France, Romania and Georgia
Group B in Split (Croatia) between Serbia, Greece, Croatia, Holland and Malta
Group C in Palermo (Italy) between Montenegro, Italy, Russia and Germany.
