“Indigenous question and vision of the other in the historiography of the New World”
The Instituto Cervantes of Palermo will hold a conference, Tuesday 7 May, at 5.30 pm, organized in collaboration with the Chair of Spanish-American literatures of the University of Palermo, held by Francesca Cantù, professor emeritus of Modern History at the ‘Roma Tre University, introduced by professor Giovanna Minardi.
This is an interesting meeting on the consequences of the exploration of the New World which placed the Spanish conquerors in comparison with human communities and traditions totally foreign to European civilization. Witnesses and narrators of this meeting were, among others, Bartolomé de las Casas (above his portrait) and Pedro Cieza de León.
A refreshment will follow.
