Japanese fascinating performances in Palermo
In 2016 we celebrate the 150th of diplomatic relations between Italy and Japan.
Those who had lost Japanese music proposal in the event “La Sicilia embraces Japan”, organized by the Embassy of Japan in Italy, by the Japanese Institute of Culture and by the Cultural Sicily – Japan, can at least plan to annotate agenda in the upcoming occasions and while doing an Internet search.
It was really memorable the music played by Yosuke Irie playing the tradional shakuhachi a kind of flute made of bamboo. The group Munedaiko played the ancient tambourine wadaiko, which function has varied through history, ranging from communication, military action, theatrical accompaniment, and religious ceremony to both festival and concert performances.
Rounding out the charm and the delicate beauty of the performance, a demonstration of kimono dressing by Ikuka Aoki.
For the occasion was attended by the Ambassador of Japan to Italy, SE Kazuyoshi Umemoto, director of the Japan Foundation in Rome, Naomi Takasu, and the president of the Cultural Sicily Japan, Giuseppe Spataro.
2016 marks the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Japan. Planned initiatives for the exchange across a broad spectrum, from the political to the economic, cultural and tourism.
