July 25. Saxophones in concert at Teatro di Verdura

On the occasion of its 400th anniversary, the Conservatory of Palermo participates in the Summer Summer Festival with a concert of the Balarm Sax Orchestra directed by Giuseppe Palma on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 9.30 pm in the splendid setting of the Teatro di Verdura.

They will participate as soloists Simona Trentacoste and two very young talents, including students from the Conservatory: Alessandro Laura, one of the winners of the Prize entitled Claudio Abbado and destined for young musicians will play saxophone, and Gaetano Castiglia, 12 years age, who has already received numerous awards for the trumpet. Special guest the harmonicist and composer Palermo born Giuseppe Milici, well-known interpreter who has a significant international career behind him.

“This is a concert that targets young, but already well-known soloists, along with artistically-renowned musicians such as Giuseppe Milici,” says director of the Conservatory Daniele Ficola. “A varied and engaging program performed by a Saxophones Orchestra, as unusual as versatile in sound and orchestration, along with a rich ensemble of percussion instruments.”
