Japan Week. In Palermo from 20th to 26th November

From November 20 to 26, Palermo will host Japan Week, an event promoted by the International Friendship Foundation (IFF) that brings Japanese culture to a different city around the world each year. In Palermo, the event is being organized in close collaboration with the municipal government.
Japan Week was held for the first time in Florence in 1975, and it returned to Italy—specifically to Turin—eight years ago. This year marks the 160th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship and Commerce, signed in what was then Edo (now Tokyo) on August 25, 1866—the moment that gave rise to diplomatic relations between Italy and Japan.

The event will take place at various locations across the city, including the Politeama Theatre, the Santa Cecilia Theatre, and the ZAC space at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa. The program features performances, exhibitions, and workshops led by “masters” of various disciplines—artists and craftspeople arriving from Japan.

All events are free of charge; however, registration via the website https://palermojapanweek is mandatory
