From the data processed by the statistical office of the Gesap, the management company of the Palermo airport, in the period between 21 December 2017 and 8 January 2018 approximately 290 thousand passengers will transit from Palermo airport, 53 thousand more (+22.94 %) compared to the same period last year.
It is estimated that the national traffic will be around 240 thousand passengers (+ 19.90%), while international traffic, thanks to the routes that operate for the entire year (Nuremberg, Madrid, Frankfurt, Munich and London Heathrow, in addition to the new Budapest and Wroclaw), is up 43.29%, with about 50 thousand more passengers.
The countries with the highest incoming and outgoing traffic are:
Germany (Munich, Frankfurt, Memmingen, Nuremberg, Berlin Schoenefeld, Dusseldorf Weeze) with 65.38% more than last year; the United Kingdom, (London Gatwick and London Stansted and the confirmation of the annual route to London Heathrow), + 24%; Spain (Barcelona and Madrid) recorded an increase of 66.67%; France scores an increase of 15.38%.
In the period between 1 and 8 January a 27.5% increase in the volume of incoming and outgoing traffic is expected, ie about 27 thousand passengers more than in the same period of 2017.
The greatest turnout will be in the week from December 30th to January 7th: one thousand flights and almost 134,000 passengers. Traffic peaks will be reached on January 2 and 7, 2018, with over 17 thousand passengers in transit on each of the two dates.
