Manifesta 12 presented to the City
“Manifesta 12”, the roving European Biennial of Contemporary Art that will take place in Palermo from 16 June to 4 November 2018, was officially presented to the City during a meeting at Cinema De Seta, at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa.
The presentation follows the official announcement, given on Monday 27 November at the Spadolini Room of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism in Rome, in the presence of Minister Dario Franceschini, Manifesta Director Hedwig Fijen, Mayor Leoluca Orlando and the Culture Counselor, Andrea Cusumano.
“The places of Manifesta – said Orlando – will be in all the neighborhoods of the whole city, because the great works of art do not have to be closed in the museums but they have to interact with everyday life. For this reason, among the protagonists involved in these months there will be students, social associations, parishes. Everyone in the city that wants to welcome Manifesta artists with the same generosity with which they welcome migrants. “
