UNESCO has approved the project presented by the Foundation Heritage Sicily in the international call “World Heritage Volunteers 2017 “, pointing to the involvement of 10 young international volunteers for the protection and valorisation of UNESCO sites around the world. The project,
entitled “WHV – International tourist assistance, promotion and accessible tourism monitoring “, is one of 13 that will be located in Europe and one of 50 that will be implemented around the world, and
will involve girls and boys in different activities within the site UNESCO “Arab-Norman Palermo and Monreale “.

From 16.07.2017 to 08.02.2017, the young volunteers will be involved in welcoming tourists at
the Visitor Centers UNESCO in Palermo and Cefalu, in translation, in their native languages, of promotional materials of the UNESCO sites, the creation of a short guide for tourists and concerning
good sustainable tourism practices, monitoring accessible tourism for people with disabilities and a promotional video.

The World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) 2017 campaign: Heritage in our hands will take stock of the progress made over the past ten years to mobilize youth to preserve and promote World Heritage by reaching out to their peers and their communities.
