Young filmmaker Riccardo Cannella rewarded by the Mayor

 

Mayor Leoluca Orlando has given Riccardo Cannella the award Tessera Preziosa del Mosaico Palermo. The ceremony was held at Villa Niscemi. Riccardo Cannella is a young Palermo born filmmaker and artistic director of Sicily web fest, the international festival dedicated to serial web productions, which is held annually in the island of Ustica, where Cannella grew. With his productions, Horror story, Run Away and Hidden Web, Cannella has won several international awards in Los Angeles, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Seoul, and got great success from critics and audiences.

“This parchment – said Mayor Orlando – wants to be an acknowledgment to those who are example of excellence for Palermo, helping to improve and beautify the spirit of our city today. Riccardo Cannella despite his young age, has already established himself in the world of international cinema. Our city is experiencing being the Italian Youth Capital. May – concluded Orlando – Cannella be inspiration and momentum for many young Palermo people. “
