Mrs. Reenat Sandhu, ambassadress of India visits Palermo
The mayor Leoluca Orlando has received at Villa Niscemi Mrs. Reenat Sandhu, ambassadress of the Republic of India in Italy, on the occasion of the docking in Palermo of INS Tarangini, an Indian Navy school ship.
Sandhu holds a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics. She is married to Taranjit Singh Sandhu, who also belongs to the Indian Foreign Service. They have two children.
During the meeting, the mayor and the ambassadress agreed on the possibility of strengthening cultural cooperation between Palermo and Sicily and India, also considering the large number of the Hindu religion community present in our city and in consideration of the role carried out by the Consulta for Peace in promoting Gandhian nonviolence and philosophy.
A first appointment to realize this initiative could be the next edition of “Panormus – La scuola adotta la città (The School adopts the city)”.
